i put a snail in my mantis' tank a few weeks ago and he could care less about it. he eats frozen food, but not the live snail. should i try to give him a hermit crab from my display tank? i dont want his smashers to fall off. someone help.

You could try one of those findler crabs at they sell them for freshwater or brackish. Mine did not like the snails either. But distroyed the crab in a few seconds.
Good luck

Hi Hnf2k,
When last I had fresh dungeness crab for dinner I saved a leg, cut it into half inch sections and froze it. Occasionally we'll feed it a piece and she'll go to town on it. Sometimes hammering away for 30-45 minutes to finish it.
I hadn't thought of freshwater fiddler crabs Jace. Great idea. :)
Was it Kalim's link that showed a smasher take out a crayfish? That might be another option and very affordable at a bait shop.

I have tried the crayfish the love them to. But be carefull and make sure it is not sick. I would quaratine it for a while first.
Mine also like clams and mussles
