I want to know what you guys use and think would be best to keep enough flow in my tank to have Sps dominated. Right now it has about 400 gph flowing altogether. But i'm gonna take out this POS pump I'm using to add flow. What do you guys that have sps dominated tanks have as a flow rate and what are you using to give that flow rate? I personally was thinking of two Koralia nanos for ajustabilities. But if there is something better PLEASE drop me a line on this thread or PM me.

Thanks a ton!

Koralia nano will not cut it for sps (assuming you're considering acropora, etc), imo, based on how weak I thought the larger koralia (1 or 2) are in comparison. I'd get 6025's - they push a nice amount of water and you can easily mod if need be. I have a 6025 and a vortech in my tank, same display size as yours.

i have a K1 ~ 400gph, a K2 ~ 600gph, Aquaclear return ~ 250 gph, maxijet900 ~ 150gph...all in a standard 20 g tank

K nanos wont do squat for you.

They are just more expensive.Right? With stronger flow rate?

Are you asking about the 6025's? They're not that expensive, though I guess that's relative. Maybe $60 bucks, ~600GPH, much better looking that the koralia, and you can mod them if need be to at least 1000gph with a couple little snips.

If you really want to keep small polyped stonies, don't skimp on lighting & flow. Looks like you have the lighting...

Two Koralia 1 pumps is the flow I use in my 29 cube and the SPS love it, anymore they close their polyps up (in addition to obvious return pump that is pushing about 300gph)

I have 6060 (1600 GPH) 2 Koralia nano (480 GPH) Magdrive 1200 return ( About 800 GPH After Head Loss) in my 55 Gallon tank. 52 X Turn over I'm not keeping any SPS.

28 gallon bow, 3 korilla 2's and mag 7 for return w/ 4' head loss(600gph). That's about 2400 gph in a 28 keeping lots of stony corals.

I have two Koralia 3's at 850gph each in a 29 gallon tank. That combined with the flow from my Aquaclear 70 filter and skimmer seems to be working nicely. I had to tweak the angles a bit to get it right, seemed like pointing the power heads slightly up (they face each other across the tank) gave the best flow. Its very turbulent on the surface, and this pulls water up from the bottom and across the corals, without actually directly blasting them.

In my 30g BB SPS dedicated tank (24 x 18 x 16 display area) I have 2 modified Tunze 6025s at about 1100-1200 GPH and a MJ 1200 return from behind my false wall --> around 2600 GPH (about 86 x turnover rate).

My 6025s are placed in the top, back corners and angled downward towards the front corners in order to bank the flow off the glass and help randomize the flow a bit. This also helps to collect detritus in the back two corners for easy removal with an Eheim Sludge Extractor. The MJ 1200 return runs through a Hydor Flo Rotating Return and it's positioned top/center in the false wall.

I find I get pretty good indirect flow with this setup and my SPS have good polyp extension.

That's a lot of flow, 86 X WOW One of the benefits of going BB.

Thats a lot of flow. I'd love to see a picture of your tank!!!

I'll try to get around to taking some new pics tomorrow evening. I need to take some more recent pics anyway.
