What is your current Alk level and pH ?

I have done that a couple times. DO a water change and then turn all pumps, power heads on. Try not to let it settle it will be a pain to get out. All my rocks were covered and I had to blow all them off, then I took out as many rocks and swished them around in clean water to get the precipitation off. It will clear up in a couple days. If you have a sump you will have to clean that also.

As far as your calcium levels try to raise it slowly over a few days. No more than 50 ppms a day.

I do not believe water changes are necessarily the answer. We would need to know a little more about his (or her) water at this point.

There has to be a reason why a precipitation event took place.

I overdosed kalk and had a calcium snow. pH went up to 9.9 within and hour and back to 8.3 within the second hour. I had white on everything. I just cleaned the glass in the tank and sump and had no other problems.

I agree! If everything is back to normal just let it clear up on its own. You don't want to stress anything out any worse.

well i panicked and did a 90% water change after the chemical reaction finished its course, everything looks ok but not specatular

dude, just so you know in the future, a calcium overdose will not likely harm your inhabitants. Usually calcium in excess will just precipitate and cloud your water.

Your tank will get back to normal within a couple of days. :)
