Hi guys,
I'm just wondering if anyone used the mounting option of using silicone to mount the rail when setting up a tunze osmolator. I have an acrylic sump with a big lip, so this is the only way to go for me. However, I'm not sure if I feel really safe only knowing the rail is on by silicone. Is the silicone pretty strong and safe? Should I be worried?

Well, silicone is what holds glass tanks together, so correctly done, I'd have to say it's both safe and strong. The osmolator rail and "eye" are non-moving part, so the stress on the attachment should be minimal. IMO, it will work fine.

I was thinking about trying that out. I have aquarium sealant and some tub & tile caulk I was going to try out. I'm using rubber maid tubs for my sump.

Silicone has been holding mine on for about 2 1/2 years now with no problems

YA...I dont trust the Tub & tile caulk. There is a Saltwater silicone made for saltwater. Iam trying to find the link...I will post it when I find it

FYI - Silicone is silicone, if it's "100% silicone", it's the real deal and it's saltwater safe
edit: caulking is not a good idea - use only 100% silicone sealant (usually clear, white, or black).

I attached my power heads to magnet cleaners with silicon and they work very well. Silicon is also a good shock absorber and reduce noise.
