My pair is usually sleeping about this time, they are both still very much awake, the male is digging a hole, which is a little over a inch deep now and the female is just swimming in one spot in the rear of the tank. If i get to close to the tank he retreats a little bit back and swims in one spot also and waits for me to leave... anyone have any clue whats going on?

normal--but a little wierd;)
I have an anthias that can hang and swim upside down--first time I saw it in the corner of the tank I thought it had kicked the bucket

well thats good to hear i can sleep well tonight then lol. Had me a bit worried for some reason =]

Just to clarify the smaller of the pair is the male correct? I read the females tend to be bigger and more aggressive which is defiantly the bigger clown(kalysta is her name) :>
