Anyone have a Koralia 4 in their tank? Was curious to know whether the flow makes it possible to have corals nearby, or whether this pumo should be used strictly for open spaces. I'm worried that in a 100g tank it might create havoc all over the place.

I know I have some sps within a foot of the #4s maybe even as close as 6". If you run them without the flow nozzle he flow is very broad.

I'll see if I can get a picture later to day or maybe you can see something on my build log (not sure).

I have 2 in my 110 show tank with no problems, however I did have to strategically place them so they wouldn't cause too much flow on my large pearl bubble coral that can't handle high flow.

ok just got them in the mail today. have 2 koralia 4s on a 72 bowfront and love it. it really isnt nearly as much havoc as i thought it would be. not stirring sand bed, not knocking over corals, everything has full polyp extension. i think that you would be safe. i have several sps that are 1 foot away with direct flow without nozzle, and they are fine.

oh yeah, and people said 2 #4s on a 72 would be way too much, and its just right, not too much at all. i still have a 350gph canister and another pump at 350 too, so total 1200x2 + 350x2 = 3100gph on 72 gallon, but its not violent, its suttle, great stuff.

I run two K4's in my 55g which is mostly SPS and could not be happier with the flow. I will not need to upgrade as the coral grow, causing restrictions on the flow. I placed tme on opposite sides of the tank mid level with a slight upward angle. one faces toward the front glass and the other towards the back. This keeps the water circulating around my center island aquascape. Not much direct flow on the corals. I also have very turbulent surface agitation which I like because it aids in gas exchange.

I started with a 4 on my 55, and it was a bit much for me.

It all depends on what types of coral you keep and placement.

I have two #4's in a 120 gallon which has a footprint of 4' x 2', I have zoas 12 -14 inches away. It's diffused, with water current flowing out towards the sides of the Koralia in certain spots. I find that i can actually twist the K4 clockwise/counterclockwise and increase/decrease flow to corals not directly in front of the Koralia.

i think that you would be fine. i have sps, lps, polyps, anemones, ect, and everyone loves it so far, placement is key. here is some pics of the shipment i received today.

Is that what they call ketchup in Canada?

was just concerned that since it spreads current in a wider way rather than in a jet, it would hit the entire tank, but if it's possible to do it in a 50g, surely must be ok in a 100g, just will have to place some rockwork to protect LPS

no, that's not ketchup--the blender used for making fish food isLOL

Tim Hortons has switched over to using Koralias for making their donuts.:D

My korallia 2 is literalily on top of my sinularia and it loves it. I know the GPH is far less, but the flow on korallias is very wide and not concentrated at all.

Exactly!

I love the K4's but if you have a bunch of soft coral, it might not be the best for you.
