Besides sand do you put live rock ruble or just chaeto or all of it?

in my fuge i have about 5" of sand, 10lbs of LR rubble cheato, and calperura. this is also only a 10 gal. fuge.

some ppl don't even use sand and just the macro alage and LR rubble.

Can you put all 3 in? I already order live sad and LR rubble and was going to get some chaeto from the local reefers

What are the benefits to each? Benefits to live sand, live rock and algae? I have a very small refugium area and was trying to decide how to utilize it best...a little of all three?

deep sand bed - good for nitrate export
LR rubble - good space for growing pods and extra filtration
macro alage - good for nitrate and phosphate export.
