need help.. phosphate reactor was off line for couple of weeks and this stuff has gained a foot hold..
tangs really arent interested in it..
help
this is not cyno?

Best guess is Cyanobacteria. Most mat-forming cyano communities detach readily from the substrate they are growing on. So yes - try to siphon it out. If it is growing on sand you may incidentally suck up a little sand with it. Cyano blooms can persist for a while. One thing you can do to keep from having to replace water each time you siphon is to siphon through a micron sock filter. The sock will catch most of the cyano and you can return the filtered water to the tank. The socks are usually polyester and can go through the washing machine several times (hot water, no soap).
