What do you want to keep in the tank? This will help to determine your lighting options for a 10g.

either a nice PC light or a 70W halide. JBJ makes a clip on halide (called the viper) that would be great for a tank like yours

i personall am putting a 150W halide on my 10gal

im sure i have different dimensions though..

I really don't want to spend more than 80 dollars. I found a nice 40 watt for 56.00. Is this to small?

that will be fine. just be sure to change your bulbs the recommended amount of times per year an dyou should be good!
