When your tank is cycling, when and how often do you do a water change. Do you wait until it completely cycle to do a partial water change or you do a water change while it is cycling.

Some people will say dont do water changes. Some people will say do water changes. Its up to you if you want to or not, i guess it depends on how harsh your cycle is. Meaning if you have super high ammonia, nitrates ect, then you should probably do a water change.

Either way will work. I agree that doing some water changes might save some hitchhikers if the ammonia is high. Whether it's worth it is a personal choice.

in your opinion, how high is too high for ammonia during the cycle?

I would do changes if the ammonia were over 0.5 ppm, but I wouldn't go crazy with them.
