OK...Here's the deal. I have ich in the main display. This is what I have decided to do. I took out all the Inverts and am going to hypo the DT. FYI...This is a FOWLR.

Questions???

1. How long can I keep the fish in hypo? How long before the parasites die.

2. Is there a calculator to show how much RO/DI I need to add to lower my salinity.

3. How do I raise the DT back up to 1.024 without shocking all of the fish

Thanks

Most people do 6 to 8 weeks. You raise the salinity up slower then you drop it by adding SW and not FW back into your tank. You can either do it by topoff water or by removing water from the tank and adding higher salinity water back into it.

make sure you use a refractometer and hold the salinity at 1.009. Use ph buffer as the ph will not be stable, your skimmer wont work, your biofiltration will go into "hibernation", be prepared for frequent water changes. Use prime to help with the inevitable ammonia spike. keep fish in hypo for at least two weeks after spots disappear. Have fun and always remember this aggravation next time you dont QT new livestock.
