RC i need some help i have run into a delema..

About a week ago i went to my LFS... and bought a bunch of cheato for my DIY auqa clear fuge... all is well and good.. until last night when the power went out for a moment at my house..

Well when the power came back on .. all the light pumps and everything that should have come on did.. but i noticed something new swimming in my tank...

after i fished it out and looked at it .. I realized it was a baby mantis shrimp.. and the only place it could have come from was the macro.... now im afrid there might be more then one in there... and the next one i wont catch as early and he will make it into the rock work ..

should i ditch the macro???

is there a way to clean it to ensure there isnt another one of these buggers in there??

some other advice that i didnt come up with?

doubt it was a baby mantis. probably a large amphipod from the cheato. post up a pic

even if it is, (which it almost certainly isnt) mantis are territorial so they would not be together.

Also doubt its a mantis, they're in rock, not chaeto. Could even be another type of shrimp.

there is the full size shot...

if its not a small mantis...then it is a LARGE pod...

the tank that the macro came out of has alot of rock in it as well.

Its a pod - isopod, not copepod. Copepods look like grains of sand...isopods are obviously much larger. I've seen plenty that big in my chaeto in the sump.

definately amphipod...i thought isopods were much smaller then copepods...anyway....

good little scavenger/ detrivore...and yes you will find hundreds more of them...i have them almost 3/4" of an inch large in my overflow and sump....i am sure there are some big guys running around my tank too..
