I came across this video. I like the look of the overflow and was thinking of doing this for my 75 gallon tank. I was wondering if there are any disadvantages with using this setup? It seems like I can make an acrylic box and set up the system as shown in the video. Another thing, would incorporating a durso standpipe enable the system to be quieter? I have no idea if this system would be relatively loud.

Durso standpipe doesn't have to be inside, here is picture of external Durso standpipe

Nice link. I've been thinking about this but haven't wanter to mess around with drilling glass. I think I'll try drilling on 20 dollar 20 gallon tank before the big one.

Do you put the bulkhead gasket inbetween the overflow and the glass, or inside the overflow? Do you use two gaskets? I like this idea, but I imagine that it will leak if the gasket is in the wrong spot or too few are used.

I bought this overflow aabout 9 months ago. The gasket goes in between the box and the tank. I used the herbie method with a turned down elbow. It is very silent with about 300 gph.
