I currently have a 5 gallon wet/dry filter that I converted to a refugium. Previously I had algae in there that grew under a 5100k floodlight attached to the side of the refugium.
More recently I've been moving all of the hang-on stuff from the main tank to the refugium to cut down on noise in the big display. I'd like to add some live rock to the refugium for a bit of added filtration, but I'm wondering what sort of lighting would be recommended. Would the 5100k bulb (75 watt equivalent) do the trick in such a small tank with only about 6-10" from the rock to the light, or do I need to look into a different lighting solution?
The only problem is it's difficult to get one of the smaller power compact setups on the tank because of its shape. If anyone knows of a floodlight bulb that would work better that would be appreciated. Or if the current bulb works fine in the setup just let me know.
