So I thought it would be time to try a clam, and came across a great deal on a deresa from a fellow reefer in the area. I placed it on the sand, under my 250 watt 20k HQI (my ballast isnt the best, so 20 looks like 14, 14 looks like 10). It has been two weeks, and the clam seems to be doing well! The mantle is fully open, nice color, attached to the little rock i buried for him... The thing that gets me is this - I have a small yellow headed sleeper goby who does a fantastic job of keeping the sand clean (not a dsb) - which is now a blessing and a curse. Everytime the goby sifts around the clam, he drops his sand onto the clam mantle... Is this real bad for the clam, or should I try to move it to a different spot with a little more flow so the sand gets blown off of it?? As always, any and all help is appreciated!!
Thanks,
Jarod
