Well over the last 2 weeks i have been working on my 10G. I built a custom homemade stand. Also put a nice 40Watt satelite fixture, with a 20 gallon filter on the back. Also added a hydor nano to push more water. It turned out better than expected and i just purchased my first corals ever the other day. Check it out and tell me what you think?

Those star polyps will open just give them some time. That grouper will be huge in no time.

What about a heater? I dont see any heater in your pictures. And again the grouper is probably not a good choicce for a 10G. Everything else looks good so far.

At first I thought that grouper was in your 10g!

looks to be in his 29.....still not a good choice......but i like the tank, i would try and find some smaller rocks or break the 2 big ones with a hammer, cuz i have figured out that little rocks in a little tank make it look way bigger

Everything I've heard about the bio-wheels on saltwater tanks is that they produce too much nitrate. I've never had one myself on a sw tank but its probably worth looking into. Easy fix would be to just remove the wheel and you could still use the filter.

Looks good, but I would have tried to drill. I would put a sump in the bottom of that stand.

Thanks for the input! I have a 70 G tank that the grouper is in now he is only about 2-3 inches right now. Im a little mad after i bought this filter i saw that their is a 10-20 canister made for nano tanks. Do you think thats a better choice?

I'm researching making my own 10-15 gallon nano and I'm really considering doing one of these. aquaclear hob refugium (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=601201&highlight=how+to+DIY+an) If you read through that thread you'll find a couple of different way to do the baffles. I think when I make mine I'm not going to make the light mounting legs but using those pieces to make a baffle. Nice thing about one of those is that the impellers from the aquaclear 20, 30 and 50 will all fit in the aquaclear 70 filter so you can adjust your flow that way.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that if you can find a small enough heater ou can stick it back there and keep it out of your main display. I believe the 50 watt hydor is small enough. I've got a 50 watt all-glass aquarium heater thats only about 6 inches long that I'll be using.

This months reefkeeping 101 talks about how that all works. Can't remeber if he addresses how much excess nitrate it puts out. Its not a bad article, addresses some common myths about cycling tanks.
