Crocea Clam is strating to pull in his mantel doing this for the last couple of days nothing changed no new fish. My Alk is around a 10 only thing i can think that is high or a little out of range did 30 gallon worth of water changes over 2 days need advice any one seend this befor looks like he is not happy his mantel is usually 3+ inches out.

How long have you had it? Could the frogspawn have stung it?Add lots of carbon. Are any of your other clams looking different too? The alk shouldnt bother it as long as it didnt jump quickly to 10 from a lower level.

Yea 10 isnt bad at all my alk ranges from 9-10 and my clams dont mind that.

no it did not jump up fast , frog spawn did not tuch him its 2 small. I will post picture of healty clam same tank.
will adding carbon HELP?

frogspawn can have sweeper tenticles. yes add carbon asap.

puting in new carbon and going to move frogspawn but really dont think the frog spawn is doing it.

Hey,

I would check your salinity, it is very low. I checked it when my step-daughter got the carpet anemone. Rease it slowly over a few days.

Do you use GFO for phosphate? I was having trouble with a blue Crocea and FW dips helped, but only short term. I read an article which said the Iron in the GFO supported a protozoa that irritated clams. I removed the GFO and the problem resolved itself. I assume that the dip killed the pest and it did not regrow after the phosgone was removed.

I do not disagree with the advise above. It's all correct. A frogspawn has sweeper tenticales that are many times longer than the rest of the animal.
