I am starting this thread as a log of my progress on my new tank. No pictures yet, but I will have some next week once the tank is back from getting drilled and the overflow box put on.

Here's what I have so far:

40 gal breeder tank
Dimensions: 36" x 18" x 18"
Black stand
Outer Orbit 456w light fixture: 2x150w MH + 4x39w T5
Mag Drive 7 Return Pump
Tunze Nanostream 6025 (will be moved from my 26g bowfront)
AquaC Remora skimmer (may be selling this to upgrade to a large skimmer)

I am doing a shallow sand bed with two islands and a "valley" down the middle of the tank.

I plan on doing all types of corals, including SPS, LPS, rics, zoos, etc. I will have my clams as well.

Fish list:
True percula pair
Yellow watchman goby
Sixline wrasse
3-4 Blue/Green Chromis (maybe)

Everything will be controlled by the Reefkeeper 2 (or if I can afford it by the end of this ordeal, the Reefkeeper Elite.) I will also be picking up a 1/10 hp chiller once my tax refund check comes in.

If anyone has comments, suggestions, ideas or recommendations please feel free to let me know.

Even though it's not quite a "nano" I am hoping to get in on a nTOTM in a little while. I have always wanted to have something worthy of being posted! I hope this tank will finally be it. :)

Sounds nice so far. I'm considering downgrading a little from my current 65g to a 40g breeder (I always liked the look of them when set up.)

Not being critical, 36" x 18" x 18" equals fifty gallons.

I would love to hear about your progress.

Why have a drille tank and the overflow box??? You don't really need the overflow box if the scheme of drilling it is good. I will be starting up a 40br soon, but was thinking that a 250w MH and 2x 39w t5s would be plenty of light for sps, lps and zoas. Anyone think otherwise??

That's plenty of light.
