I have an orange sun coral that just started to open up but there is a discoloration between the polyps on the outside. The Orange color isn't there and it is replaced with a brown color. Is this an indication of decline?? Let me know exactly what I am looking at.
Don't have a picture to help out the cause. Thanks!

I think if you can get it to feed, it will be fine.

If you are feeding at least twice a week and colony is not starved (starved has a sharp edges), the food leftovers between polyps are blown away (toothbrushing analogy), red slime (if you have it at the time) blown away too, they should be OK. Try offer variety of food or mixes. Mysis, Marine Cuisine, Ocean Plankton, Ocean Nitrition VHP formula, homemade coral food - whatever you have at hand.
