That thing look friggin' HUGE. What is it, 22 inches top to bottom?
The first problem I think of first, is finding bulbs of the correct spectrum to fit in that monster.

Second, what type of heat does that thing put off?

Third, do I want a light in my living room to look like it came from a high school gymnasium?

That is a bay fixture for lighting warehouses and the like. They are massive in size and weight a ton because the ballast is magnetic and mounted in that box at the top. Bulbs are usually in the 4200-5600K range and xetreamly yellow. They also tend to be wired for 220, 440 even 660 volt. Your better off getting a retro fit kit or standard pendent setup.

BTW the mesurement is generally the diamiter of the bell reflector.

I've played with a bunch of these at work changing ballasts and what not they are not worth the hassle.
