I bouth a Super Colored Maxima Clam from LiveAquaria and have had it in my tank for about a week. It is currently placed on the substrate (sand).

For the past 2-3 days, it keeps tipping itself over. I suppose it could be the snails doing it, but it's unlikely that it is happening with this frequency. I tried putting it on one of the rocks, and it did the same thing. It literally goes on it's side. Should I just leave it?

Doesnt sound happy. They like a mature tank and proper water readings with good flow.
Does it open up?

Yes, it stays open all day. It's even fully open on it's side, it's just sideways. The tank has good flow with two 6045's and an WMD40 split return, 2x250 MH's and 4 actinic T5's.

Everything else in the tank seems happy....

Should I move it closer to the top? Hide it a little? or let it be?

Put it on a rock so it can attach itself

I wedge mine an inch below the SB next to a rock. Things like Turbo snails and nass snails could knock it over but if hes been in one area long enough then i dont thinkthey can knock it down.MB try a differant location with more or less flow and not shaded by rocks.
What type of fish do you have?

I have a yellow tang, and 4 tiny b/g chromies. I will try to wedge it in

I think your tank is to young for this clam. He sounds stressed.

Do clams need a mature tank? This is the first of heard and I have three maximas in my 3 month old tank. No problems and I've had them for 3 weeks.
