DSB with hermits and other bottom dwellers

What bottom dwellers are safe to keep with a properly maintained DSB? It was suggested to me that you have to be careful with what you keep because you don't want something eating all of the beneficial life out of the sand bed.

Is it acceptable to have shrimp, snails, hermits, jawfish, micro-sand sifting stars, etc?

They are all a tool used for differant uses.A good mix cant go wrong.

No fears of these bottom dwellers eating all of the 'life' out of the sandbed?
