Tempered Tank Overflow

After finding out that I cannot drill my tank, I am wondering what my options are. Is a hang-on overflow the only way I can go? I have seen Octopus and CPR...does anyone have any opinions? Also, is the "dosing pump" a necessity with one?
Pictures of your setups would be great if any are available.
