I like. Too bad it's about $950 over my spending limit.

Pretty expensive for having no color whatsoever...

Its called subtle beauty. Not everything in a reef has to be bright red, yellow, or pink. Bright colors are a bad part of our American culture.

I agree. This angel actually caught my eye when it first listed a couple weeks ago. if only i could get a larger tank.

for some reason fish with duller color but nice body shape catch my eye more then brighter colors and un-interesting body shape.

that beauty is about 989.99 over my spending limit.

I am actually waiting for a 4" for myself. Great fish, there not so much rare, they are pretty abundant in Hawaii.

$1000 for a fish. That sucker better climb out of the tank once a week and cut the grass, and wash my truck before it gets back in the tank.
Cool looking fish, but a weeeeee bit expensive.

I remember when you could find them for $250 which was 3years ago and I thought that was too much. You'd think the area they get them from was wiped out by an asteroid and is now inhabited by radioactive sharks. I guess the rest of the economy is in the toilet except marine aquariums.

bandits are rare in regular depths and definitely not abundant. IE: i couldn't go scuba diving in 40 feet of water and catch 4 of them. they are being caught at about 180+ feet (which in my book is pretty friggin' deep :)) So unless you have respect for the divers literally risking their lives to catch them, this fish wont have any appeal. they are very nice in person. no other fish looks like them with the markings and the opposite color combination (black/white) and small ones look bada$$!

they are shallower in northwest hawaiian island and kauai because it is slightly cooler, but even there they aren't that common.

Too bad Frank doesnt breed them anymore.

I think frank only got one juvi out of his pair. the waikiki aquarium also tried to breed them but the male was sterile i believe. Most of them are pinned on the way up, which may cause problems for breeding (from what i heard from a breeder).

i think he is going to breed them again when he gets up and running. I wouldn't mind a tiny tank raised bandit :)

Saw one in my LFS about 20 years ago for $35, I thought they were sponge eaters, turns out that little fish would eat anything in the tank. I wish I would have bought it.

Frank is actually going to start breeding Conspics. These guys are probably going to be pricey, but i wouldnt mind one.

Aqua Touch (LFS in Phoenix) has one for $399. I was in on Sunday, he was about 6 inches....Cool fish, but not my favorite for that kind of money, a lot of angels in the hundred dollar range I prefer.

400 is cheap but it is 6". the smaller ones do so much better adjusting and especially decompressing. Try to stay away from the monsters :)

theres a difference in price depending on size, the larger ones dont acclimate too well oppose to the Juveniles

the smaller the more $$$$$

That is wayyyyyyy!!! to much for a Bandit especially at such a large size. Just my opinion. They can be found at 3" for almost half that cost. Regards, Tim

IMO-based on colors and flare this fish is a $20 fish. A blue devil damsel looks better. If its that hard to catch leave it in the ocean.

I'll have to remind myself to write that one down in my 'The Reasons America is Bad: Volume XIVII' book......lighten up and have a Budweiser (or micro brew if you live in the Northwest).

That's a lot of money for a fish which could get lost in the back drop.

I can't believe this thread has reached two pages.

Maybe I should start a thread for every fish that is posted on Diver's Den and we can argue about whether or not it's a "good fish". Sheesh.

3 inches at one half the price? I will be the first one in line. Would you care to share that information with us?
I did talk to my friend last night who owns AquaTouch about that fish.

I love the bandits and they are especially awesome looking up close but I would never spend the money on one, just too expensive and touchy. I would imagine LA is getting the money for that fish because it has been there long enough to settle in. Most of those $300-400 bandits are probably a lot riskier and it would be a gamble to buy one.
