hello

But will it be too much? I recently bought the tank but its 175 mh died on me during the move. So I bought a 250 retro fit kit from coralvue. What should I watch out for? heat?

thanks

anyone else have this setup?

I would say perfect....I have a 25g nano with a 150 MH over it, and on hot days I turn on my 2 computer fans to blow the hot air from the MH light

Should be fine but make sure you have a good fan, especially in Davis. Otherwise, just acclimate your corals carefully but it should otherwise be good.

Make sure that ypu acclimate your corals (if you have any) so they can adjust to the brighter light. Its not to much unless you don't have anything that demands strong light.

If you had an Oceanic Cube...250 watt is perfect. I run a 250 De MH and two 65
watt Actinic PCs on my 33 gal cube.

If you have a standard 30 gal which is not as deep, I would get a mounting kit and
hang the 250 MH from the ceiling so it can be adjusted higher then what the hood
legs would have it at...You will be way happier with a 250 watt...

Jesse, definitely heat. that 250 is going to raise your temp fast if you dont have anything to cool it down with--esp being in Davis. Got to love the summer heat.

i run a 150w over my 16 but then again its 1.5-2ft off the tank because of heating/evap issues

i run a 250w on my standard 29g. i use a fan i bought from radioshack (very powerful :) ) and i love it. evaporation and heat will be the hardest thing to battle. HTH

also, make sure it is at least 8 or 9 inches above the water
