I had one a while back - did this all the time. No worries.

Ditto. My open brain would turn into the superdome sometimes and then just go back to being normal. I'm not exactly sure what they are doing, but mine stayed healthy and is still alive.

Thats a sign of a healthy, happy brain coral.

Hopefully your clown doesn't try to host it (since it seems to be doing everything else wrong when it comes to letting other tank mates alone). I had a maroon clown once and had to take him back because he decided that the open brain was his new home. He rubbed on it and sat on it and really ****ed it off. To keep the brain happy I had to take the clown out. But hey, atleast you know you brain is doing good!

he might be enjoying the water now cause you have taken your fish out, perhaps the quality is better for him with no fish:)
