I just got it on Saturday. When I picked it up (from a fellow reefer) it looked like it might be splitting... but now it doesn't look to be splitting. Looks wierd, like its tentacles are detatching from its base. Any ideas?
also, any idea what type it is?

its a type of bubble-tip anemone (BTA).
lighting, flow, Alkalinity, set-up/established tank of six months min. before adding any anemone is general rule.

yea my bad. Tanks about 4 years old.
all inhabitants doing well... fish, coral, etc.
Lighting- 175 watt halide and 2X39 watt T5.
FLow- 20x turnover
Alk- 3.0 m/l

What is the anemone doing though?

How did the foot look when you got it? From the pic it almost looks as if it's been damaged.

hard to tell from the pics but I'm guessing it's going through a standard splitting phase.

the foot looked like it could have been damaged... the person I got it from thought it was splitting.
I have never seen an anemone split like this b/c its not looking like 2 identical parts.??

looks ok, it started to split and might have changed its mind, it looks happy in the pictures besides the split activity.

Looks to be splitting to me as well. As far as I know, they don't have to split into equal parts.
