So I sold my reef tank about a year and a half ago do to a relocation. My new place has a spot where the previous owner had a tank of some kind. I have been itching to set up another system ever since I moved in but I need some ideas on how to go about it. The existing stand is 60" long x 22.5" wide and 30" tall. I found a fellow RC reefer selling a 60" x 30"w x 24" tall tank with a built in over flow on 1 side. I would have to make the existing stand wider to accomidate this. I'll post some pictures and I would like to hear some input on how to go about this build.

wow, perfect spot. already plumbed with water.
is there space for a fish room in the adjacent wall?
if you made a strong enough top you wouldn't have to expand the existing stand.
although you may want to if your going to put your filtration under there.
could be a very cool with 3-sided viewing.
keep us posted.

There is lots of room on the other side for a fish room however I am trying to control myself and not go overboard. I want to keep things simple. All equipment will go under tank.

That looks more like a wetbar setup but without a drain.

You will surely want to mod/replace that as it looks like there is no below access. I'd want it to have removable sides so you could access it from both sides as that would be great!

I figured I could either mod it to have a door on each side or I could just knock down the drywall and wrap in in oak. I would like to figure out a cheap way to make it 30" wide without having to demo everything.

Yeah I'd yank the drywall. Not demo the whole thing. An oak surround would be really nice. I'd maybe go with some magnet scheme to give full coverage and full access. ?? Though doors would work too.
