So I have an ACIII, and it is time to get a chiller for my 30g tank.

I am considering the Current Mini Prime In-Line Chillers - 1/15 HP vs.
the JBJ Nano-Arctica Chiller DBI-038 1 / 20hp.

I am leaning toward the current mini prime chiller because it is more
powerful, cheaper, and has heater controlling options. But I am concerned
that it will not work well when I try to control it with the aqua controller.

Anyone have any experience?

Thanks,
John

I have a chiller with built in temperature contol also. I just removed the temperature control from the chiller, and hard wired the compressor, and fan to the power cord.

Think of the temperature controller on the chiller as a backup. Unfortunately that is less effective if you use the heater controller on the chiller. Basically set the temp on the chiller to be one or 2 degrees cooler than you really want. Set your heater to be a degree or two warmer than you really want... If the Aquacontroller for some reason fails in turning off the chiller, than its internal controller should do the job a bit lower.
