Considering adding this fish and wanted some input. I have never kept a Butterfly, and most of my reading claims this to be one of the easier if not the easiest to keep. Would be going into a 240 FOWLR (200 lbs of LR in tank). Will this fish do well with some borderline aggressors? Including currently Sargassum and Niger Trig, Sunset Wrasse (all 3 juvis), and eventually Emperor Angel, and Sohal Tang as the tank matures. Sounds like they accept most foods fairly readily?

Thanks for any input.

Should be ok. A nice long QT would help. I've found butterflies to be easy if you just get them from a good source. Find a store you really like or get them online from a highly reptuble source.

aurigas a bulletproof once etablished. the ones that dont make it are due to being roughed up along the way. I have very good success with them a long with raccoons.

I read that you need your tank to be at least 6-12 month before getting any butterflyfish. I had an Auriga once when I first started out. He ate like a pig and loved to eat clams. One day, I guess he got so excited when I put a clam in, he flopped over and died. All of my other fish were fine. He could have been caught with cyanide-I never knew why he died, but it was sad to see him go. Good luck.

I agree that I´ve found threadfins to be one of the hardiest butterflies. They can be mean to similar colored butterflies though.

I agree with above. Sohals can be pretty mean though.

I think he will make a good addition, the tank will be at 5+ months when he goes in and there are no major aggressors in yet, the Sohal and Emperor will go in later this Summer. I plan to add him and maybe a Singapore Angel or Cream Angel in mid May.
