This is probably going to get moved but i have a big clump of algae, dont know what it is, and want to get rid of it because im getting a cole tang to eat hair algae. First thing is, will a cole tang eat the hair algae and how big will they get. the second thing is, if anybody is close to the Vacaville CA area will you trade the algae I have for a frag of xenia at lease two inches wide. the algae is ten inches tall on tallest stalk and will grow in the sand and live rock and it grows very fast. thank you

tangs in general eat algae. some are more particular in what they will eat. IE, yellow tangs will eat alot of caulerpa species where as other will eat it but not exclusively.

that looks like caulerpa prolifera you have there.. if your looking for xenia, the local guys should have some. check out the northcoast reefers club. i believe whats what they are called.

If the tang eats the hair algae it will probably eat it faster than in grows. They eat a lot. So you'll need to supplement it's diet with some other algae anyway. Why not let it eat both?

I can grow some in my dads sump but i want it to eat the hair cuz its killing some of my polyp corals that a bought. It already killed my daisies and its on my gsp. so i want that gone as fast as posible.
