I've always hated the way my intake tube and heater looked in my tank. To solve the problem I made a surface skimmer. It hides all that great. What do you think?

Looks cool! You should make and sell these, I bet you'd have a lot of people wanting them.
Good work!

looks good, maybe the slits are too big and some nano fish could get inside (which due to the size would make it really hard to get out)

Not sure if they are actually that big, or if its just the photo....

they shouldnt be to bad to get out after all they would likely be stuck to the intake of the filter..LOL lift filter to remove fish...

looks good man...i agree that the 1/4" slot look a little too wide for such a small tank...but great job none the less...i am sure it will make your filtration a 100x more efficient too...

Since it's only a 5.5 I don't have any fish in it. Your right thou, that could be a concern. They are 1/4" slots. Only one person has asked me to make them one. I only charged them $10 compared to $60 online. Thanks again.

Hog: The construction of it is top notch! I had problems with fish, and especially a tiny pistol shrimp from going through, i bought some plastic mesh and glued it behind the slits. it solved the problem perfectly. Otherwise you can just try to make them skinnier, although you need to keep enough flow for it to serve it's purpose!

This is what it looks like in use.
