Im settign up a refrigum under my 55 gallon tank. I have everything built and am almost ready to start my plumbing, I am planning on a Rio 1700 which will move 400 gph of water at 3-4 ft lift height. I made a overflow system out of acrylics and am going to cut my drain line down to my refrigum soon. I was wondering if I use 3/4, 1, or 1/2 inch pvc pipe as my drain how do I know what gph will drain down to my refrigum? I want to match the two up properly so I dont have issues.

1" pipe is about 600gph

Then it looks like I might go with 3/4 should be around my return rate. If anyoen knows how to calculate this let me know.

It never hurts to go bigger on a drain.

If you click on the HOME button up top and then look down the left hand side of the page under CALCULATORS you will find a drain/overflow calculator.
