Hello, I have alot of experience with coral but little with fish. I have a Mystery Wrasse now and have acquired a pair of Lineatus from Australia.

I have them in seperate prop tanks now but would like to put them together. Only if they will get along of course.

It seems the Mystery can be a bit aggressive, even towards my purple tang.

Does anyone keep them together now with success?

I've heard that the Mystery Wrasses can be on the agressive side. With the price of all of those fish, I wouldn't risk it...

mystery's are not so aggressive, you should be fine, there is a reason they call them mystery, quite secretive & your fairy's will usually be out in the open, now a six line wrasse will be more on the pushy side.

This whole time I was worried about the Mystery my mimic tang was trying to kill the Lineatus.

I have since captured the Mimic but the poor female looks a bit rough.

This is why I don't do fish very often!

I have a supermale with a large mystery wrasse and they are just fine. The supermale is about 5" though, any wrasse the size of the mystery or smaller is done for (been there done that). I would think you might have problems with the female lineatus not being harassed to death.

I also have a mystery and a lineatus together. Mine do well and the Mystery was actually added before the Lineatus.

Not too much aggression between the two, it's worked out quite well.

Wow! I would NEVER put any other small wrasses in with an established mystery. They are real bullies. If it works, I woudl say you would be lucky. That genus of wrasses doesnt often coexist well with peaceful wrasses. Good luck if you try.

I agree with jmaneyapanda. If they get along you are lucky. But the romance may not last. Wrasses of that group are know to be viscous to fairy wrasses.

+1 I would never risk another fairy wrasse with a mystery wrasse.

mine also do well together, but they have lots of room in a 300 gal system with plenty of room, never seen any disputes beween them.

I figured as much. Any wrasse that give a purple tang a hard time will likely tear apart my Lineatus.

I don't think my female made it. She is MIA.

Darn Mimic tang, I didn't think it would bother my Lineatus.

Hopefully she is just hiding somewhere.

Good news! the female is no longer hiding!!!

She is eating to, but the male isn't. I think they will make it.

I also have a SuperMale Lineatus with a nice sized 3 Inch Mystery. No issues... 120 gallon reef...

mystery wrasse tend to be aggresive after they turn mature, however, i have seem the combo in some other ppl's tank, but i do not know how long it'll last.

my guess is that if it doesn't die in the tank, all u need to worry about is if they jump.

add the mystery last after the fairies have established some territory and are acclimated/eating. I have had many fairies beat the crap out of mysteries...
