I have some red course Macro algae starting to grow on some of my rocks. I've had this problem before, and I've ended up removing the rocks because it starts taking over. Is there anything that will eat that stuff? Has anyone ever had problems with this before?

It might be Red Slime Algae. The only way to truly get rid of it is to stay consistent on water changes. This usually happens with newly set-up tanks. Its normal.

Hey....thanks for your input. It's def not red slime algae...thank God, I had my battle with that in the past before. This is more like course red hair algae.

Never heard of anything like this before. Could you snap a few pics for us?

Probably red turf algae. I have the same problem, but no idea how to get rid of it. It grows on everything. Supposedly diadema eat it, but I've had no luck w/ that. Also, powder brown tang (or something like that) is supposed to eat it. I've been thinking about trying to get one of them.

Hope your not thinking of the Powder Brown for your 12g. ;)

Sorry, I need to update my tank size. I have a 30g tank now. It would not be permanent either, b/c it still is a small tank.

It would also be a juvenile, not a full grown one
