Just bought an orange spotted Goby, also known as a diamond watchman goby. He is floating in the bag in the tank right now and I will drip aclimate him. But my question is, do I put him in my QT (up, cycled, and ready) or acclimate him to the display. I am worried about his ability to survive in the QT without a sandy bottom. I could put a small tray of sand in the QT, but he'd have it well sifted by the end of a typical 4 week quarantine period. I will also be quarantining 2 other new fish. Hoping for a quick answer. Please forgive cross-post to new at hobby. Didn't know where I'd get more answers. Thanks

I think they still might eat food even if its not in the sand bed, so i would still QT him if you haven't already put him into the DT

Why not add sand to your QT? It's not a hospital tank.
