I am not sure of a link but this should work

CaCO3 ( Coral skeletons)

heat until about 800 degrees Celsius to drive off co2
now you have CaO

disolve in water ( pretty reactive exothermic) CaO + H2O -> Ca(OH)2

You can't store the CaO as it will absorb CO2 from the environment.

Or you can take elemental Ca (the metal) and dissolve it in cold water.

Ca + 2H2O -> Ca(OH)2 + 2H (Hydrogen gas is explosive so be careful)

It is so much easier to buy it, and it is dirt cheep.

He's giving you instructions to make pickling lime from coral skeletons or limestone. You just need to buy the pickling lime. If you need a calcium-only supplement, a number of vendors sell calcium chloride in bulk.
