Where to buy reflectors?

I would assume the poor man version of this is to use the shiny side of aluminum foil as a reflector.(Not that I would really do that!)

You can purchase the reflectors from most LFS's or mail order houses. They are not cheap though just to warn you, but they work very well. A good reflector can put close to 50% more light into the tank than a poorly made reflector.

Which are some of the better reflectors?

The Icecap is about the best. Look for ones that are for individual bulbs and are shaped kinda like an upside down W.

If I need 24" reflectors can I buy the 48", an extra set of clips, and just cut them in half?

nothing "wrong" with that, since the direction symmetry is in the radial direction of the bulb. However just be careful when you cut. Also you might want to put something on the cut sides so they don't rust from the inside out. Even polished aluminum will corrode, the reason it doesn't in reflectors is they put a sealer over it.
