So today I added a new blue tang and a redreef starfish along with a green openbrain. This after adding a new lightfixture and a lavender mushroom 2 days ago. The 75 is really starting to take shape I will get some pics up of the new inhabitants as soon as I can.

Quick question what should I be dosing for the mushroom and the openbrain if anything?

they both don't need to be spot feed but you can feed your corals twice a week with a mixture of mysis shrimp, reef snow and cyclopeeze

I use cyclo peeze every other feeding for the fish anyhow so I am guessing that is good for the corals also. Here are the updated pics I promised.

the tank is doing great

the timing for feeding is also important--I do it just before dark-when the attinics are still on---the fish are starting to slow down to. I also shut off the main circ pump and just keep the ph's on for about 45 min

Thanks Capn I never would have thought of that turning off the main pump which in this case would be teh marineland C360 for the return. Hey just a question should I increase my flow I am only running about 1700 GPH currently. I think my next addition will be a second PJ Cardinal so the one we have has a playmate to hang out with especially since they are a schooling fish. We will then only be adding the copperband once the LFS gets anymore and possibly a Maxima clam and a few more corals.

I am going to have to get an ID on something I found in teh tank today that I had not seen in there before it looks like a slug of some sort but it is red/brown in colour I just can't get a pic of it as it is sitting on the back of one of the powerheads that is against the back of the tank. Once I can get a shot of it I will post it. It is a little smaller than a nassarius snail body (minus the shell) and it doesn't have a shell.

1700 gph in the main tank---that's okay for the corals you have

Yes, post a pic --it will be easier to identify

I am going to be adding some hammer and frogspawn and colt coral in the not too distant future. I have been looking all day long for that slug like thing but can't find it my guess it is now hiding in the rocks as soon as I find it again I will snap a pic.

Also how long does it usually take for the tangs to start eating after acclimation? I have a clip of nouri in there currently and it isn't even looking at it.

those are all softies and lps corals--so the flow will be great for them--when you start adding sps corals you may have to increase your flow and or make it random

depends on the tang, the other members in the tank, and how stressed out the netting and delivery of it etc etc
my yellow disappeared completely for three days--then would peak out at meal times for another 2 or 3 days and then finally was fine.

Well the tang is out and about and eating the nouri from the clip and picking at some things growing on one of my snails that looks like branches LOL. The open brain last night under the moonlights looked like it was opening up and moving it's edges but I do not know if that is possible or just my imagination.

the outside flesh of the open brain will expand and contract as a protection feature
there is a central mouth lined with small polyps which you will see extended when it wants to feed.

good news about the tang;)

Thanks for the info on the brain that is cool to know. Now I buried the bottom section in the sand rather than just leaving it sitting on the sand is that going to bother anything? Just to let you know it seems the flourescent green outer edges roll back and little finger lie things stick up and wave in the flow of the water it really is quite a cool coral to watch.

Ya it is great about the tang as it is just a wee one currently about 2 inches or so long.

Here are some pics of that slug looking thing. It is a red/pink marbled looking colour up top and front and it has an almost translucent green skirt looking thing out the back like the foot of a snail and 2 small antennea/feelers up front.
