Something is wrong if its lying on it's side. Do you have other fish in the tank?

When you say the water checks out "ok", can you post real numbers?

Tangs can be very sensitive to low oxygen levels. When my power went out, my other fish seemed fine, but my yellow tang was on his side gasping, until I got my generator going. Maybe somehow the new system isn't putting enough oxygen in the water? Just something to check. Good luck with him!

I agree with this tangs are alot more sensitive to the oxygen levels than most fish. Try pointing a powerhead at the surface of the water to get some oxygen into the tank.

I would also keep stress to a minimum, turn the lights off, and try not to move around the tank too much.
