What is the diif. between your 4 stage Premium series and Purely H2OOptima Vision RO/DI? Also what is the advantage of the 5 stage over 4 stage (eg. typhoon III)?

Hi Fish. Thanks for contacting us.

Here are some differences:

Our system comes with a flush valve ($9.99 upcharge on their system)

Our system comes with a DI bypass to allow you easy access to RO water for testing and drinking. Not an option on their system.

We use a depth sediment filter - these filters have a graded density fgoing from larger pores to smaller pores as you go toward the center of the filter.

We use a genuine KX Industries 0.6 micron, 20,000 gallon capacity carbon block. They use a 1 micron - no capacity or brand name stated.

Our system includes a TDS3 meter. They offer a less expensive meter (TDS-EZ) for $15 up charge.

Our system includes a drain saddle. Their's doesn't.

Our system doesn't include a hose bib adapter, faucet adapter, or 1/4" tee for the supply fitting - there are numerous ways to tap into your home's plumbing - these options are unlikly to work for majority of buyers. We have a pdf file we can email you that describes supply hook up options. If you are handy, the best options include compression fittings or soldered fittings in your copper pipes.

Our systems include a Filmtec membrane spec'd at 50 psi and 77 degrees. They don't specify a membrane brand, nor the specs. Although they sell Filmtec membranes, see this thread for a description of what comes with their systems: uberfrags. n e t /forums/showthread.php?p=30748

Last, but certainly not least, we have an exceptional record of customer support.

As to your other question - unless you have a specific water quality issue you are trying to address (e.g., chloramines, or heavy sediment loads), there is no need for a 5th stage on a system configured for aquarium use. Will a 5th stage do any damage? No.

Our system comes with a DI bypass to allow you easy access to RO water for testing and drinking. ($12 upcharge on the other system).

We use a 1 mic depth sediment filter - these filters have a graded density going from larger pores to smaller pores as you go toward the center of the filter. They use a 5 mic sediment filter.

We use a KX Industries 0.6 micron, 20,000 gallon capacity carbon block. They use a 5 micron carbon block (6,000 gallon capacity) from the same manufacturer in front of the 0.6 mic block. With this arrangement you have more carbon than you need, and the 0.6 micron block will also be serving as a sediment filter, which we think is not a good idea.

Our system includes a handheld TDS3 meter. They use the inline TDS meter. We prefer the handheld as if facilitates taking tds reading in the three locations needed, and is more precise.

Their system includes an auto shut off valve which you end up paying for whether you need it or not.

Our system doesn't include a self piercing needle valve - there are numerous ways to tap into your home's plumbing - the needle valve is one we don't generally recommend for a number of reasons.

Our system is $30 less.
