I want to put a shut off valve on my bottom drain so I can remove my sump if I need to. Putting in a union and ball valve on the 1" tank drain reduces it to 3/4". Won't this reduce the original flow of 600 gph to 450? What.s the best way to plumb the sump without reducing the flow?

Use 1 to 1.5 inch reducers (to increase not decrease) and a 1.5 inch valve. That way you can increase the pipe diameter around the valve.
Just a thought --landlord

Something so simple escaped me. Thank's for the help. I think my fish are smarter than I am.
