DI Resin

I've been hearing mixed reviews about when you use new DI resin. What is the proper way.
I was told when you put new resin in that you can just run water through for like 5 minutes and you should be good.

Then i was just told when you put new resin in that you should run like 15 gallons of water through it before you make water for use.

You determine how much water to waste with a TDS meter. Some resins take longer than others and there is no set amount. Test it until the TDS reads 0 and you are good.
