I have a 30G with about 24lbs of LR in it. I am looking towards the future of that I am looking for fish-wise. I also plan on keepng coral as well.

I have been looking at:
2 Clowns
1 Orange Spotted Goby
1 hawkfish or damselfish or cardinalfish

Now I have been thinking of a lionfish. With the fish I was looking at, which would be ok with the dwarf lionfish?

Thanks,
Brian

IMO, a 30 would be too small for even a dwarf lion.

But, with that said, think you would end up with just one fish if you tried it. Even though it would be a dwarf, the mouth would still be surprisingly large.

the darf would most probably die in a 30g. for sure.. way to small.

A lionfish will eat or try to eat fish nearly as large as themselves.

I had a dawrf fuzzy in my 30gal and trust me he will eat the clowns. The mouth is much bigger than it looks. After that I traded him in.

If you have a 30 gal cube, I think a dwarf fuzzy lion would be ok. Mine was only active when it was feeding time. If you are set on the lion then build the rest of the tank around him.

Yeah I slept on it and was thinking I dodnt want any casualties from the lion. when you say the Dwarf Fuzzy Clown was only ative at feedings, do you mean he just would hide the other time?

He didn't really hide. He would pick a spot in the tank and hang out. Sometimes he would be upside down in a cave or on top of the magnetic glass cleaner, and there were days when he would be more active.

With your expierence with the lions, would you have rather stuck with the clowns then the lion?

Lionfish don't do much when not hunting. They don't hide, they just sit and wait for the next meal. They WILL eat or try and eat anything that is within 50% of their size. The other fish in the tank will become dinner at some point.
