Yes, very underated fish, IMO. I love mine! He's gotten really big now!

I have the plain pink with black lines. They are growing fast.
From 1.5 in. to 3 in. for the largest in 4 months.

wow, nice fish. Mine is uber shy - always hiding out. Only had it 3 weeks so maybe he is still adjusting to new home.

I'm surprised. Mine is SUCH a wimp! Actually got chased out of the tank once by a McCoskers flasher half his size

me too Peter..i did keep one once that was quite the bully though but in general they are pretty calm and one of the least aggerssive fairys that i have kept

SD Guy or anyone else keeping this morph has it held it color intensity or has it faded some? Thanks.

Wow, those are spectacular. I love that electric blue color outlining some of the scales. I have a Lubbock's with the purple morph, and it is also pretty striking, but these are tremendous.

Great pics Wrasseguy2. I recently obtained a Lubbock's from Live Aquaria, this color form. The only time I see him is at feeding time, even during the quarantine period. Are they typically shy? I've never had such a shy fairy wrasse. My tank is peaceful so I don't know why the shyness. I haven't noticed any of my fish even giving him much of a second glance. Do you think he'll get bolder with time or am I stuck with a wallflower?

They are usually fairly bold, what other fish do you have.

Thanks for the replies. My Lubbock's was out a little more today. Not showing color like yours yet though. Lubbock's are one of the best values in fairy wrasses. Totally underrated!

thank you one of my all time favorites and did not cost an arm and leg
A lot of places say these are peaceful fish. However, I have found some places that say they are semi-aggressive. I have been considering getting one for a while now, but I don't like dealing with aggressive fish. Basically, I'm looking for a peaceful fish that won't bully any fish in the tank whether it be the fish already in the tank or the ones I put in after it (and it must be completely reef safe). Any ideas if this fish would be a good addition or would I be better off with something else? Thanks!

I am considering 1 or 2 for my 90 gallon. Will 2 get along?
wrasseguy2
07/02/2008, 07:02 AM
no... two males will not get along...you can keep a male with females but two males would be WW3

Thanks. I will just get one and get a different species wrasse for the second.

I had one, but he disappeared after I did some re-aquascaping. I had only had him for 4-5 months.. I miss him.. I too am waiting for another to come into my LFS. He is also getting tons with the stripe (females I believe) but not one like I used to have, or yours.
Those are some great pics everyone! I agree the Lubbocks is very underrated also.

How can you tell males from females?
wrasseguy2
07/02/2008, 02:12 PM
the females are all pink with a black dot at the cadual peduncle (tail)..but there are a few feamle fairys that look like that too so it is hard to tell
