I'm pricing all my parts for FOWLR - 40 Gallon Breeder setup - and I've gotten to the point of Lighting.
I've got a mixed message from my resources.
Primary resource for First tank setup is 1 1999 Book " The New Marine Aquarium "
Their lighting segment of the book is pretty bare boned - but they basically suggest a 2 Bulb flourescent hood as acceptable for a FOWLR. The most affordable I've found in a 36" model is this light from Perfecto for 80 bucks.

Upon reading this site - I've come to the conclusion for Live Rock - I need 2.5W - 3 W per gallon - which would put this Perfecto Light at 55 Watts with a Reef Sun bulb & Marine Glow Bulb ( 30.00 additional ) well below the acceptable level.
So, Besides going into one of those very expensive MH lights that are designed to grow corals and clams - is there an inexpensive way to get lighting for a Marine Aquarium setup. 300.00+ for a light puts my Marine interests at a grinding halt and I'm hoping I can find a less expensive lighting system that would allow me to get my healthy coraline algae growth - and not worry too mucha bout corals right now.
Additionall : Besides Coralife are there any other Marine Lighting brand names that I should be looking at to fill this Lighting need for Live Rock and Fish only system at a reasonable price
Thanks.
