After seeing Travis' thread it really sparked me on wanting to build a nano or two, my wife wants one in her office and I want to give it a shot.

I can have them fabbed up locally but they are more expensive than I thought they would be(still more cost effective than buying all the materials and building my sef), unless I buy 10 or more. I could use 3 myself.

Do you think I would be able sell a 6gal nano reef fairly easily? I

Unfortunately the cost would be slightly more than those found on ebay, but it would include a wood stand/canopy.

Looks like they go for $135 shipped online, would people be willing to spend the extra 30-40 for a nicer setup?

Personally, I'm tanked out. But, you might check and see if the stores would let you sell them. They might need a commission for taking up store space, but it's worth a shot. Also, you could consider a booth at CRASE - if we offer booths for non-livestock sales. The problem I forsee is that people are going to want to purchase or at least see a finished product.

I'm definitely going to build at least one. I'm looking at the idea of doing a batch to cut down on overall cost(since I want 3).

To build just one, i'll have around $175 invested in the total setup, which is a nice coralife light setup and an 80gph pump/filter setup too.

I can cut cost by using cheap lights or letting people get their own lights and pumps.

If your using the coralife mini aqualight, i have one laying around thats only been used for two weeks. I would take $25 for it and it comes with an extra actinic bulb.

I went ahead and ordered a prebuilt 10x14x10 ID tank with is 6.1gal. It should be ready in 2 weeks.

Now I need to layout my plans for this stand/canopy.
