I bought a WIZ110SR (http://www.wiznet.co.kr/main.php) adapter from a user on RC and am trying to set it up to connect my AC Jr. and Aquanotes. I can access it from the configuration tool (it finds it and lists the MAC address) but I am not sure what to do with the connection manager. Have any of you successfully set one of these up or have any suggestions on how to do so?

I am to the point that I am willing to pay for help getting this thing to work!

I was not able to get this setup working. My new approach was to try the Iogear GUIP201 USB share station with a USB to serial adapter. I am not able to get this setup to work either. The GUIP201 finds the serial adapter and COM 4 is listed in the device manager but Aquanotes never finds the ACJR. I can connect to the AC directly with a the USB serial adapter but now with the GUIP201 in line.

Have any of you ever used the Iogear GUIP201?

The link for the serial to ethernet adapter you have doesn't work. It looks to be this device.

This seems to be more of a home grown setup than a professional level device. It could be that there are some incompatibilities with certain serial devices.

Your second option with the Iogear GUIP201 I don't think was designed for what your trying to do. You have too many conversions happening (Serial -> USB -> Ethernet) to determine where the problem lies. Not all serial to USB adapters work with all products either.

I have a TrippLite serial to USB adapter that works perfectly with my AC Jr. If you want to go this route you might try that.

I'd recommend the Sena LS100 serial to ethernet adapter. I use one of these at the office with a PBX for phone logging. It works flawlessly.

You use their COM port redirector software and assign it the IP of the LS100 device and the COM port you would like your application to use.

I've been thinking about purchasing one for my AC Jr soon. I plan to use the telnet mode of the unit and build my own PHP web interface so I can monitor the tank remotely. If I do I'll be sure to post back and let you know how it works.

rsw686- I am able to connect to the AC Jr with the USB to serial adapter just fine. However I am not able to connect to the USB to serial adapter and with the GUIP201. I find it strange that I can't get this setup working. My laptop connects to the GUIP201 and it finds and connects to the USB adapter just fine (the COM port shows up in Windows device manager) but Aquanotes is never able to find the AC Jr.

Try using HyperTerminal (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Communications). Connect to the COM port and type c the press ENTER. This should show you the current status (temp, etc).

Should that work with an AC Jr.?

Yeah its in the back of the AC Jr manual for serial commands you can issue.

l - display all defined timer names and program statments
c - current status
d - print the data log
r - reset the data log
on XXX - turns a device on (ex. on LT1)
off XXX
auto XXX
