I'd like to take a look at my tank at nighttime when the worms and such are out doing their work - just wondering what sort of light works best for this that will not scare them back into their hiding places? Should I use a cheap yellowish-light flashlight or a white light LED, or... ?

I think I have a fireworm on one of the rocks but it disappears the moment I turn on the lights in the room, even with the tank lighting off. Just wondering what I could use to look in there that is a color which the worms and such can't see so well.

a red lens flash light works great. if you use a regular flash light they will get scared. i ve even heard of people shining a flash light through a red shirt. i have a old angle milatary flash light that has different color lens to cover the light

I put some red plastic wrap over a regular flashlight.

I have blue LED lights (In hood) that are always on, so I can see all the little critters at night.
