I have been planning on using a 40Long as my sump/fuge and just ran across a website that says they are generally made with tempered glass.
This was the first time I had heard this and am just wondering if it's true? Has anyone ever had/seen one drilled?

Look it up on the manufacturers website, or give them a call.
All Glass (for example) looks like it only has a tempered bottom:

Perfecto/Marineland has a Tempered bottom also:

I drilled the bottom and the back of my AGA last summer, not sure if they changed it since then.

I drilled the side of my 40 l and cracked it. Not because it was tempered just because I'm a knuckelhead. :) I did patch it and am using it now.
